About Montana Sapphire:
Sapphire is the birthstone for September. It is also a traditional gift for those celebrating 5th or 45th anniversaries. Sapphires are often associated with loyalty and dignity and are a favorite gemstone for royalty.
Most natural sapphires undergo heat treatment to improve their color and clarity. This industry-accepted practice results in a permanent enhancement and helps protect against accidental chipping or breakage.
Montana sapphires are mined in the state of Montana, USA. They were discovered in Montana in the late 1800's by a gold miner working on one of the gravel bars on the Missouri River near Helena. Some would consider these stones a more eco-friendly option because today's popular mining operations make efforts to restore the land after mining, replacing soil and seeding with native grasses.
Montana sapphires are recognized for their extraordinary blue-green tones, often lighter in color. They also may have a silver tint to them which you don't often find. Sizes in over 6mm are also becoming much more difficult to source.
Like most sapphires, Montana Sapphires are very durable and make an excellent choice for a center stone in jewelry.

Making a Difference:
Help fight climate change with this purchase! Trees are like the lungs of the planet...our "natural air purifiers." They breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. Additionally, they provide habitat for birds and other wildlife and play a vital role in our natural water cycle. Forests help regulate the water in the air through a process called transpiration. They absorb thousands of gallons of water into their roots. Excess water is then released through the leaves back into the air. For every purchase made, I donate one planted tree through Plant-It 2020. Small changes by individuals can make a difference in the fight against climate change. You will be reminded of your efforts each time you look down at your beautiful ring.
